FGS is proud to be an active participant in the local community. From helping to develop
local economic growth to contributing to charities, FGS believes that a strong community is
the foundation on which leading businesses are built. We are
proud to sponsor organizations and initiatives in local schools, Governments, hospitals,
and faith-based organizations.
Charles County Technology Council Eagle Award
FGS was recognized by its local peers when it received the inaugural Eagle
Award from the Charles County (Maryland) Technology Council and the county's Economic Development Department in 2006. The award recognizes technological innovation in business and education. FGS continues to maintain active membership and participation
in the Charles County Technology Council, and is a sponsor of the Southern Maryland
Technology Expo.
Allison Foundation
The Allison Foundation was founded by an FGS employee to raise funds for children with Autism in
Charles County. FGS has provided corporate contributions and resources to the foundation, becoming one of its
key sponsors. FGS employees have also supported and participated in the Allison Foundation's fundraisers to
help this new organization make a difference for children in our community.
Christmas Food Baskets
Each year, FGS and its employees sponsor needy families in cooperation with local
churches
to provide baskets of food and staple items at Christmas. FGS believes
strongly in supporting local charitable initiatives, both at the family and institutional
levels.
North Point Robotics
North Point High School for Science, Technology and Industry in Waldorf, MD, is
Southern Maryland's newest high school, offering highly advanced technical programs
and
extra-curricular activities. FGS is proud to sponsor student-led competitive
technology programs at North Point, including the design and building of robotic
devices.
MS Challenge Walk
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the central nervous system that wears away the control a person has over his
or her body. In honor of the 2.5 million people living with MS worldwide, FGS took the challenge to make
a difference by participating in the MS Challenge Walk on September 29-October 1, 2006. During
this three-day, 50-mile journey, hundreds of walkers traveled from northern Virginia to the U.S.
Capitol to raise awareness and funds to fight MS. The FGS team raised $10,000
with the grand total for the MS Challenge Walk soaring over $750,000.
The donations support the National MS Society, which funds more MS research, offers more services
for people with MS, provides more professional education programs and furthers more MS advocacy
efforts than any other MS organization in the world. The National Capital Chapter of the National
MS Society serves more than 18,000 people affected by MS in the Washington, D.C. area.
